"The outcome of engaging students in mathematical problem solving using tactile and visual stimulus was amazing.
Students opinion of math shifted from "I dont want to do math" to them excitedly running to get the next question. Students were paired and helped each other build on personal strategies as the contents degree of difficulty kept the students thinking hard. The mixture of competition, branches of other competition running at the same time, conveying lesson content and overall format was cleverly delivered to maintain high student stimulation.
Working mathematically in an enriched environment developed students interpretation skills, communication of mathematical ideas through speaking, drawing, writing, mind mapping and problem solving which ultimately raised the students' personal belief and approach to maths. The workshop maintained student engagement over 3 periods (amazing) and was an incredibly positive experience for students and staff alike."
